St Anthony of Egypt
St Anthony’s of Egypt has a long history and I would suggest that you look at the “History” tab to find out more. Of particular interest is the book, “A History of St Anthony’s Parish, Scotland Road, Liverpool”, published by Gracewing. Written by Michael O’Neill the book covers the years from the foundation of the parish in 1804 to 2004.
It is a long and glorious history of which everyone associated with the parish is rightly proud. We need to know that history, and the people who were a part of it, to inspire us today. May the past fill our hearts with joy and may it help us to become an inspiration to future generations.’
The book tells the history of the parish through the eyes of those who served as priests in the parish and through the parishioners who lived, worked and worshipped there. If you look at the “About Us” you will find more about what we do today and plan for the future.
You will find a tab which links to our database project where we have assembled a large amount historical information and records. As Liverpool grew in size and experienced large scale Irish immigration, St Anthony’s emerged as the principal Irish church in Liverpool.
We publish a regular newsletter which can be downloaded from the “Newsletters” tab. St Anthony’s has many links which you will find under the “Links” tab.
